Art History includes the study of realism and the different ways to achieve it through art. One surprising lesson I learned is that realism doesn't necessarily mean a realistic or photographic look but it can. More importantly, though, it captures the essence of a moment, place, or era; often having to do with emotion and experience. I drew the above picture with that in mind.

This is a drawing of a work site while I worked as a personal aid at peoples' homes. My drawing portrays mid-afternoon. I provided personal assistance to each individual shown, and yet I learned so much more about them then just their personal needs. While working on this piece I tried to capture their individuality as well as the small home they shared.
